A group of parents came to my home as a kick off to spring sampling party of some yummy treats from the The Happy Family Organic Superfoods Cookbook For Baby & Toddler cookbook.
We sampled 3 yummy foods, the Broccoli Mac & Cheese (that we added cauliflower to), Carrot and Spinach Meatballs and Mixed Melon, Turkey & Cheese Kebabs.
No one was surprised that I made Macaroni & Cheese, I almost felt that I was obligated as the Macaroni Kid publisher to serve such a favorite dish and I am so glad I did because it was a hit. The kids who typically shy away from anything green loved it and even the parents who are the go to boxed brand fans enjoyed it. The recipe calls for fresh ingredients and since I doubled the recipe we had plenty to go around. Next time I won't add the cauliflower. The meatballs were my favorite. I am known to "hide" veggies in my meatballs so my kids weren't surprised that I chose to make this but I rarely use turkey meat. The recipe is easy and I again doubled it to make sure we had enough. They were amazing and I should of made even more than I did. The Kebabs we made as an activity with the kids and it was easy for the toddlers to do.
We spent time reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and making our own Caterpillars out of pompoms and clothes pins. "Someone" found bubbles which became the highlight of playtime.
