Indoor Play for Little Kids at The Westchester Mall

By Kelly Fitzpatrick January 24, 2023

On days better suited to indoor play, and when you might need to pick something up or grab a coffee yourself, the play area at The Westchester Mall is worth the parking fee.  On the 4th level, in the Savor food court area, this indoor play space offers activities for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, although school aged children won’t mind the computer coloring, magnatiles, or keyboard either.

Each time we have gone on a midweek morning, the space has had other children to interact with, but has never felt crowded.  Weekends are busier, but it also depends on the time of year.  As can be expected, the holiday crowds tend to attract more folks than you’ll usually find.  Little kids are often the early risers either way and you may find few there when it opens at 10 a.m.

The family restroom and nursing room also make the space more comfortable to stay awhile.  A baby area is enclosed and offers wall puzzles and soft blocks at eye level.  It’s easy for the adults to sit alongside and keep a close eye while the littles still can explore with some freedom.  Comfortable chairs, stroller parking, and outlets also make for an ideal spot for recharging in more ways than one.  If you’ve come with a partner one can even run the errands while the other stays with the kiddos.  I've even seen the play area advertised as a birthday party spot!  Just outside of this designated area, you’ll also find large chess and checkerboard games that can keep everyone entertained for more than a few minutes while waiting on food or for others to finish.

With no entry fee for play, routine cleaning, and new friends to make while partaking in STEAM aligned activities, the play area at The Westchester is a great option for family fun.
