Stop traveling to the city for holiday lights! We have so many options in our own Westchester County backyard!
We kicked off the season with a visit to Holiday on the Hudson by Monteverde at Oldstone. The lights dazzled in the chill and the dark!
You are greeted with a candy cane at check in, and the view begins with thousands of hanging lights. You'll walk along the grounds of the mansion which have been transformed into a merry pathway that winds through a variety of holiday scenes like the 12 days of Christmas, a light tunnel, a rest pick up truck kit, inflatables, etc.
We took our time enjoying the lights and taking pictures (Santa and elf cut out is so cute and made for lots of laughs) and finished with a visit inside the mansion. You'll 💯 feel like you're in Newport RI - it's completely decked out.
If you are not doing the buffet dinner, head to the bar. There's a seating area for kids and families and you can order adult bevs, hot chocolates, warm apple ciders, cookies, brownies, etc. We had visited with friends and had such a nice evening sitting in the great rooms while the kids played together. It is meticulously decorated - they'll love the set-ups too. Also, I don't recommend that you run wild, but should your children get a little wonky post bedtime, staff members will be incredibly kind about it.
Pro tip: Dress in jammies or your holiday best for photo ops, either with the gifts under the tree or in front of the many fireplaces.
